Volarević Plavac Mali Gold
Tasting Notes: The palate is heady and voluptuous, full-bodied, silky and round, with almost Amarone-like richness and glycerous texture. More jammy/dried fruit emerges on the long, warm finish. All in all, this is robust, satisfying, mouthfilling red wine that should have broad appeal, made with ambition and care. (John Szabo - WineAlign - 92 pts)
Serving Recommendation: 18 - 22°C
Pairing Recommendation: Steak, game meats, smoked duck.
Awards & ratings: WineAlign (2021) - 90 pts
Vinification: Only made in exceptional years. Grapes are hand picked and hand sorted before gentle crushing. Skin maceration lasts 15-30 days, depending on the year and extraction. The wine is aged in one-time used Croatian, French and American oak to preserve varietal aromas for 24 - 36 months. Additional one year bottle aging occurs before the wine is released on the market.
